Core Beliefs

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Hi! My name is Lisa Montgomery, I am a Christian woman wanting to share with you my love of studying the scripture. I am especially passionate about what the Bible has to say concerning women and their service to God. I believe God calls women to all types of service, including teaching, pastoral or elder positions in the church. I hold to what is called an egalitarian view of men and women. I believe men and women have equal standing before God as creatures made in his image. I do not believe that a woman’s gender limits her in any role God calls her to. I will often delve into the scriptures to see how God speaks to, or about, women. I love learning biblical Greek and Hebrew; therefore, I will sometimes explore these ancient texts in their original language.

I follow Jesus because he showed me how much he loves me by what he did for all of us on the cross. God loves you, I am sure of it, and he wants to know you. The greatest thing we can do is love God with all our hearts, mind, and soul. This is God’s calling for your life too.

Biography

I am married to Paul-Émile and mother to one son. I live in the heart of Montreal Quebec and I love it! I have a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a master’s degree in nursing. I’ve worked as an ER nurse. I know, not related to theology, is it? The truth is, I love studying the Bible and theology.

I grew up in a complementation environment for most of my childhood. It always bothered me a little to see only men leaders in the church and to hear about women’s submission to their husbands, but not the other way around. I wondered why God made me a woman, it seemed so unfair. I didn’t know of any serious Christians who thought otherwise at the time. I tried to put my unease and suffering aside to wait for a time when I could research this further. I found great liberation in God a few years ago when I finally encountered God’s love for his daughters. I want to share some of my reflections on what the Bible says about women. I believe Jesus came to free the oppressed. I had been burdened in my soul by complementation ideology, but I finally found greater dignity in Jesus.
